    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    ATTENTION ALL REDEEMER STUDENTS: Have you checked your Redeemer email lately? If you have already completed the 2011 Canadian University Report survey, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Students from universities across Canada participate in this survey and the results will be published in the Globe and Mail newspaper. It covers all aspects of Redeemer - professors, classes, athletics, extracurricular activities, information technology, etc. It will take 20 minutes to complete, and a link to the survey was included in the e-mail invitation. This is the 4th year of Redeemer’s involvement and your participation is very important. Although the deadline is March 22, 2010, please complete the survey TODAY. In exchange for your participation, you may enter a random draw for one of twenty $100 prizes. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Needham at Extension 4236. (First-year students: The Canadian University Report is NOT the survey that Mr. Wikkerink has asked you to complete.)

    OUTDOOR ED: Any Phys Ed or Kinesiology students interested in participating in next years Outdoor Ed course, PED 365, or this coming summers canoe trip activity, PED 166, please get your name to Prof Brown asap so you may be considered for inclusion in the program.

    AWARDS FOR NEXT YEAR: Applications for scholarships and bursaries for 2010-11 are now available in the Commons, in the Financial Aid Office, and on the Financial Aid pages of Redeemer's website. Please read the details carefully and submit all the requirements for the awards you are applying for. Act now and don't wait for the March 31 deadline.

    SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS: If you are planning to do an internship/field placement in 2010 (summer or fall) or winter 2011, please attend an information session TODAY during Activity period in room 218.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR VALUE VILLAGE – REDEEMER STYLE: Please come to the Art Gallery space TODAY during the Activity period from 11-11:20 for a quick meeting to sign up for a position the following week.     REDEEMER IN FRANCE PROGRAM MEETING: Second, Third and Fourth year students who are thinking about going to study in France from September for two semesters, or January 2011 (one semester), we will be holding our first meeting TODAY during activity period in Room 242. Please bring along your schedule so that we can find a time to meet once a week for the rest of the semester. Please contact Dr. Thea v.T. Rusthoven (trust@redeemer.ca) if you CANNOT make the meeting.

    BLUE MOUTAIN TRIP: To all those going on the Outdoor’s club ski/board trip, there will be a mandatory meeting TODAY during activity period in room 211.     FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERT: TODAY Redeemer is the “VIP” concert venue featuring Joe Moran, Brielle of Bruekke, pe-RO, the Portrait, and E-Video of Allosaurus. Come to the Rec Centre – cover charge is $5.00. This venue has a limit of 80 guests that can party exclusively with food and drinks provided. There is no dress code specified, but please….do wear some clothes.

    DOC NIGHT: presents the documentary The Invisible Nation TONIGHT at Meadowlands Fellowship Church. In the Invisible Nation, Richard Desjardins and Robert Monderie challenge perceptions by spotlighting the sad reality of the Algonquin of Quebec and bringing the history of this people to the screen for the first time. Today, barely 9,000 Algonquin are left, living in about 10 communities, often enduring abject poverty and human rights abuses. These Aboriginals are suffering the threat to their very existence in silence. See www.mfcrc.com for more info.

    PANCAKE SATURDAY: Come on out to the Rec Centre for some yummy Pancakes TOMORROW!! The Redeemer Nicaragua HANDS Team is doing a fund-raising Pancake Breakfast this Saturday from 9 am-12 pm. Pancakes are 2$ for 2 Pancakes or 5$ for all you can eat (10 max). So come on out for some sweet pancakes that you are able to top with different toppings! Feel free to bring your roommates/friends/anyone who enjoys a good breakfast! Please bring your own dishes and cutlery. Also if any dorms are willing to donate pancake mix, syrup, or toppings, please email me at jmisek@redeemer.ca. See you there!

    SOUP AND BUN LUNCHEON AT REHOBOTH URC: Students, join us following the 10 am worship service this Sunday. The soup is homemade, the buns are fresh and the fellowship is great. Rides available from the bus shelter at 9:40am and by 4:40pm.

    NOW ACCEPTING REC CENTRE COORDINATOR APPLICATIONS: Do you have a passion for the Rec Centre? Looking for a job next year? Come to the Senate Office to pick up an application form. Applications are due Tuesday, March 16th.

Look good “on paper” and the employer will want to meet you in person. Come to the first of the Career Support Seminars beginning this Mon, Mar 8, at 11 am in Rm 220.

    SPRING BANQUET 2010: This Annual Spring Banquet is themed "Soirée du Soleil"! Tickets are available for purchase in the Student Senate office for $28 each (pay when you sign up). This event will be held at Carmen's Banquet Hall, Hamilton on March 19th. Doors open at 6 and dinner will be served at 7. Limit of one guest per student.

    VALUE VILLAGE – REDEEMER STYLE! Boxes will be placed in the school next Monday to Wednesday for you to donate clothing. Then fill the empty space in your closet and buy yourself some "new" clothes in the boardroom on Thursday (9am-4pm) & Friday (9am-1pm). $2 for shirts, shoes and shorts. $5 for pants, sweaters, jackets and formal dress and on Friday at 12pm- Everything is $1!!!     ATHLETICS

    KING OF PONG: Tournament will start Saturday March 6 at 1:00pm. The first two games at 1:00pm are: Eric Prins vs. Adrian Vandevart and William Wallace vs. Randall Brus.

    ANY PHYS ED OR KINESIOLOGY STUDENTS: Interested in participating in next years’ Outdoor Ed course, PED 365, or this coming summers’ canoe trip activity, PED 166, please get your name to professor Allan Brown as soon as possible so you may be considered for inclusion in the program.

    SPRINGBALL LEAGUE SIGN-UP: This is a basketball tournament that will be run as a club and not as an intramural sport. Sign-ups are individual and teams will be drafted. If you wish to be a captain please indicate with a C beside your name. The fee to play is $2. Pay and sign up in the Athletic Centre at any point this week. Rules and Regulations will be on the Intramural Board.
